Weekly Poll Followup: Android tablets win bya landslide

Last week weaskedwhich type of tablet was your favorite. Just about everyone has used one at this point, and most of us have at least one floating around our homes. 
There is definitely some variety in the type of tablets currently on the market with options like the MicrosoftSurface, AppleiPad, and plenty of Android tablets to boot. It's quite apparent that Android tablets are currently the most popular though.
There were four options in last week's poll. Android tablets, iPad and iPad Mini, Surface tablets, orother Windows tablets. Out of these Android certainly has the largest variety of tablets available for you to play with, which is why it's unsurprising that they won outthis week's poll with a whopping 64% of the overall vote.
So Android were the clear winner for the poll this week, and had 4,581 votes in their favor. Apple tablets came in second place with 20 percent of the vote, and 1,431 individual vote. In third place was the Surface tablet with 859 votes and 12 percent of the vote.
 In last place were other Windows tablets who managed to grab up just 214 votes at 3 percent of all votes. While it really wasn't surprising tosee Android come in first place, the fact that they had more than twice the number of votes of any other category is a bit telling.

Hence, if you are looking at having a weekend with some more downloads, surfing or more data to take you through, the mtn 3GB for N300 data plan might be the best bet.

Groove Music gets much requested gapless audio feature for Windows 10 Mobile

Groove Music has snagged a pretty notable update on Windows 10 Mobile this evening. While it may not be the biggest update, it does contain one new feature that people have been clamoring for: Gapless playback.
That's right, you can now enjoy listening to an album or playlist without any break in between songs. This is especially handy if you happen to be listening to a full album that was recorded with the intention of songs melding together.
This has been a long requested feature on the Groove Music feedback page for a while now, so it's great to see that Microsoft has listened and brought it out in full force. To grab the latest Groove Music update and start slinging some tunes sans-gaps, be sure to hit up the link to the Windows Store below.

Here's what's been fixed and what's broken in the Windows 10 Mobile preview build 10549

Microsoft has released the Windows 10 Mobile preview build 10549 to members of the Windows Insider team. It has also published a list of what's been fixed compared to the earlier build and what known issues are still in this new build.
Windows Insider head Gabriel Aul posted the list of the fixed problems in build 10549:The Windows Camera app no longer crashes when certain applications launch it to capture a picture.
We fixed an issue where the touch keyboard would get dismissed every time you sent a message, which made sending 2+ texts in quick succession difficult.
We fixed an issue where swiping away a notification was causing the notification icon to appear top of your screen.Screenshots were not being properly saved resulting in many top social messenger apps such as WeChat, WhatsApp, LINE, WeiBo, and QQ unable to find saved screenshots. This has been fixed.
We fixed an issue where you couldn't cannot launch apps saved on SD cards after reinserting your SD card.Pinch to zoom should work properly in the Maps app now.We fixed an issue where trying to set a customring or text tone for a contact shows a black screen for 10 seconds, then does nothing.
We have added back vibrate-only alarms.We have fixed call-blocking.There's also a short list of known issues:After upgrade, you might be missing a few apps. If you experience this, the workaround is to reset your phone.
After rebooting your phone, you won't see notifications, such as new messages, until you unlock your phone for the first time. After that, you should see notifications for new messages just fine. This bug is fixed in a later build.
You will be unable to make calls with Skype for Business, WhatsApp and other apps after upgrading to this build. The workaround is to uninstall and reinstall these apps from the Store.
Of course, the biggest known issue with this build is that people who have the previous 10536 build will have to downgrade back to Windows Phone 8.1 in order to get the new build 10549.

iPhone,Windows Phone#Lumia950#iPhone6S–Microsoft Lumia 950, 950XL update: Prices Leaked; Same price as iPhone 6S:Microsoft has been very prominent and aggressive with the marketing of their upcoming new smartphones, namely the Microsoft Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, which they are planning to officially unveil in less than a month. Users have been curious about what the device would be offering in terms of performance, operating system, and most especially value.
Apparently a Spanish retailer has jumped the gun and posted an online listing for the new phones and in doing so they have revealed the cost of the upcoming phones prematurely.
The listing has now been removed but is still viewable via cache. Surprisingly the phones have been listed at a very expensive price that is roughly the same as the recently introduces iPhone 6S from Apple.
According to the now removed listing on Ecomputer, the Microsoft Lumia 950 cost around €659 or roughly $738 with current conversion rates and €749 or roughly $838 for the Microsoft Lumia XL.
This would put the large XL in the same price range as Apple’s iPhone 6S which is also sold at €739 in Germany and €749 in France. There isn’t an exact price for the iPhone 6S yet in Spain but it shouldn’t be significantly different from the prices in other parts of Europe.
Users are speculating that the listing price may be for a bundle or a set for the upcoming Windows 10 mobile handsets. Unfortunately, that isn’t confirmed in the Spanish retail listing which had not mentioned anything about accessories or any other inclusions for the price.
The Lumia 950 and the Lumia 950 XL are certainly expected to have high ends specs. The smaller 950 will be coming with a 5.2-inch 1440×2560 Quad HDdisplay along with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset paired with 3GB of RAM and a 3000mAh battery.
The larger 950 XL on the other hand will be coming with a 5.7-inch Quad HD display along with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset paired with 3GB of RAM and a 3300mAh battery. Both phones will be coming with expandable memory and Microsoft’s very own 20 megapixel PureView main rear camera and a 5 megapixel front facing unit.
It is yet unsure whether or not the listing on the Spanish website was intentional or not and if it wasa marketing ploy to create hype for the upcoming phones. 
But the revelation of the prices for the upcoming phone certainly has a lot of users thinking if the price would really justify what they will be getting should they decide to purchase the upcoming phones when they are released.

The one called Lumia 550that will roll out in 2016 might not impress users with its powerful processor or neat appearance, however there is onefeature that might just be worth the investment
It’s safe to say that the Lumia 550 will belong to theentry-level smartphone category. One simple look at its overall specs and you will be able to tell. 
Here they are: 
*.A quad-core Snapdragon 810. running at 1.2 GHz; 
*.a 4.7-inch (some believe it will be a 5-inch); 
*.1280×720 HD resolution; 
*.8 GB of storage.
Moreover, this device will come out in 4 different hues as various leaked images suggest. These hues are: blue, black, white and red. In the images, only the front part of the mobile phone can be seen and a slight contour of the back cover. 
But, for some these leaked images were enough to presume that the Lumia 550 will look just like your average Lumia mobile phone and as far as design, there is nothing that will blow your mind.
But here is where things become interesting. There might be a surprise feature that will definitely make the Lumia 550 shine. We are talking about an iris scanner addition.
This type of security feature is part of Windows Hello and it would be spine-tingling to see this type of hardware included in such an average device like Lumia 550. But until the big unveiling, which is scheduled for 2016, we can only speculate on whether or not the iris scanner will be part of the Lumia 550 package.

While Microsoft is known for its OS and software, Google dominates the world of internet technology and Apple is into the world of mobile phones. Although there are no clear cut boundaries, these companies own markets in their respective departments, and have also been tapping other markets.
Microsoft, for instance, has been tapping the hardware markets off late, and has been doing well too. With the Surface Pro series of devices, Microsoft has managed to capture many markets and has done it quite well. The company is all set to release the Surface Pro 4 in the days to come too.
However, the one major cause of worry for them is the Microsoft Mobiles division which has not been performing as per their expectations. Microsoft has ended up with a loss of $7.6Billion USD and 7800 employees have lost their jobs
The company is now planning to mix a successful device with a less successful one, and a new phone is expected to come out – as Microsoft gears up to mix the elements of Surface series of devices with the Lumia phones. Microsoft is all set to come out with the surface phones, and these phones are expected to be some of the most powerful devices of all times.
The company plans to release  the surface phones with the surface pen and mega feature. The Surface phone has been codenamed Project Juggernaut Alpha, and according to several leaks, it has a 5.5-inch display with QHD screen resolution.
It is said to be powered by desktop class Intel Atom x3 (SoFIA) 64-bit processor. The phone is expected to release with a 21-megapixel PureView Zeiss 6-lens primary camera, and an 8-megapixel Zeiss wide-angle shooter in the front.
The surface phone is expected to come featuring the S Pen-esque Surface Pen in the box, along with USB Type-C port. It is expected that the device will feature 64GB and 128GB storage options with support for microSD card. What are your views on the same?
