Microsoft has started alerting users of the impending retirement of the Zune Music Pass. Alongside the alert, a support document details the transition to theGroove Music Passand the death of the beloved free 10 tracks per month download.
From the Zune retirement FAQ:As of November 15, 2015, Zune services will be retired. You will no longer be able to stream or download content to your device from the Zune music service.
However, Zune devices will still function as music players and any MP3 content that you own on the Zune device will remain there. You'll also be able to transfer music to and from your Zune player.
So, when November 15 rolls around, Zune Music Pass subscribers will be automatically converted over to Groove Music Pass.
Microsoft notes that this will occur for monthly subscribers on their next renewal date at a rate of $9.99 per month, while 3-month and annual subscribers will be converted sometime between October and November. It's important to note, however, that Microsoft says 3-month subscribers will be moved to the monthly subscription.
Finally, if users wish to cancel their 3-month or annual subscriptions before their subscription runs out, theymaybe eligible for a partial refund.Thanks to Anthony and Franklin for the tips!Source:Microsoft
