Earlier today, we discovered that Microsoft had removed the listing for the Surface Pro 3model with 128GB of storage and Intel's Core i7 processor from its store site.

Now the company has sent Windows Central an official response, stating that particular version of the tablet is indeed"temporarily sold out" in most stores.

Here's is the company's statement, via a Microsoft spokesperson:"The customer response for the 128GB Intel Core i7 version of Surface Pro 3 has been exceptional, and as a result this particular version is temporarily sold out through most retailers. We are working to ensure this version of Surface Pro 3 is back on shelves soon.

"In fact, we were able to find that model on Best Buy's website for the price of $1,149, but at the moment, it still has Windows 8.1 pre-installed. Microsoft has now started selling the Surface Pro 3 and Surface 3 tablets inits own stores and website with Windows 10 pre-installed.

Microsoft introduced the Surface Pro 3 with 128GB and the Core i7 processor in late June, less than two months ago, and it would now appear it has proven to be a highly popular option for buyers of the 12-inch tablet.
