#Keyboard#GalaxyS6Edge–An attempt at innovation: Samsung keyboard case accessory :Samsung recently launched the long-awaited fifth iteration of its popular Note series of phones during its Samsung Unpacked event. It also released the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge plus, which is the bigger and upgraded version of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.

The two phones weren’t the only ones seeing the spotlight during the event as Samsung took a cricket being innovative by introducing a unique accessory for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

Seen at the event was the optional keyboard accessory for both smartphones. It may be the Korean manufacturer’s attempt to one up BlackBerry by providing a solution to those who want a physical keyboard on their phones, but do not want to necessarily buy a BlackBerry.

The keyboard is attached to a plastic back case andis basically snapped on to it. Users can hide the keyboard if they do not feel like using it by clipping it onto the rear of the casing. This would be useful when typing in long business emails or writing a long line of text for whatever reason. It also features buttons that replace the standard Android navigation keys with physical buttons at the bottom.

The keyboard also doesn’t cover up what you are currently viewing as the screen on the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus automatically adjusts the screen to fill in what the keyboard isn’t covering. The keyboard works exclusively mechanically, which means no need for users to charge it. It does not use Bluetooth or a cable for it to work, which is partly is a downside as the keyboard does not have any backlighting.

This is fine when users are typing during the day, but can be troublesome in the dark. The keyboard basically uses a capacitive film at the back to send signals to the screen as you type.

The new keyboard isn’t what most people would call sexy or nice to look at and is made of materials that feel a bit cheap for most. This might, of course, be just a prototype to test the market, and if there is adequate demand for it, we might be seeing better versions of it in the future.
