#AppleWatch#App–Apple Watch no longer popular, sales drop by 90% in just three months –With plenty of new and shiny gadgets coming out every month it’s becoming pretty hard to be excited whenever a new product launches.
The Apple Watch demonstrated earlier this year that people are willing to spend big bucks on a new gizmo, but just a couple of months later it seems that most of their potential customers have already forgot about the smartwatch that was supposed to change the way we look at wearable devices.
Check out a recently published market study reveals that sales for the once highly anticipated gadget have plummeted greatly since launch, with very few people still expressing an interest for the thing. Admittedly, the Apple Watch is not completely dead just yet, but it sure seems like it won’t be long now.
According to Market Watch, less than 20,000 units are now being sold daily in the U.S., but on particularly bad days the numbers drop as low as 10,000.
That’s a 90% decrease in less than three months. By comparison, the Apple Watch sold no less than 200,000 units a day back in April when the device was launched.
Unfortunately for Apple, the whole craze lasted only for a week or so and towards the end of the month sales already began to decline at a very fast rate.
Furthermore, most people who did purchase an Apple Watch went for the cheapest model available, but in hindsight I suppose that shouldn’t reallybe a surprise to anyone.
In an attempt to attract as much attention as possible, the Cupertino-based company launched several Apple Watch versions, each with their own price tag.
Unsurprisingly, two-thirds of all customers opted for the Sport version, which at $350 is the cheapest of the bunch.
When compared to other offerings currently found on the market this price tag is rather high, but it’s still cheaper than the $550 regular version of the same product.
Needless to say, that’s a lot of money for a smartwatch so it’s no wonder that less than one-third of customers were willing to spend that much on it.
As for the ridiculously overpriced Apple Watch Edition, until now only about 2,000 people decided to spend a cool $10,000 for the ‘privilege’ of having a solid gold smartwatch on their wrists.
