Twitter has launched a new account to live-tweet major events. The social network has long been a
platform for users and publishers to share updates in real time, and Twitter is finally getting into the
game itself — starting with the Tony Awards.
Dubbed Twitter Stage , the account shared memorable moments from the awards ceremony for Broadway theater, including a close-up of
Bryan Cranston and updates on award winners like Helen Mirren, who received the first Tony of the
evening.

— Twitter Stage (@TwitterStage) June 8, 2015 With its new live-streaming app Periscope, and a
better interface for displaying tagged tweets, images and video, Twitter seems set to offer real- time event coverage in earnest.
We’ve contacted Twitter to find out more about its latest account and will update this post when we
hear back.
