Google Play Movies and paid Newsstand content roll out to more countries

Google is expanding access to paid content on Google Play Moviesand Newsstand to a handful of new countries today. 
In all, Movies will be available in three new countries, while Newsstand is hitting four.
Here's a breakdown of where Google Play Movies and Newsstand content is landing today: Google Play Movies Indonesia Malaysia  Singapore Google Play Newsstand Poland Philippines Taiwan Ukraine 
This is the latest in a gradual rollout of paid content across the world, bringing the total of countries with access to paid Newsstand content to 22, and Movies to 104.

Next version of Google Glass rumored to be targeted at healthcare, energy, and manufacturing companies

Google may soon offer a new version of its Google Glass wearable later this fall. A new report says that the company will keep the hype down on this release, as it plans to offer it to businesses working in healthcare, manufacturing, and energy.
According to The Wall Street Journal's sources, the plan is to give versions of the new Google Glass model to software developers who can create programs that would be used in business settings first, before those companies start using the device this fall. 
The report included some info on the improvements that have been made for this new version of Google Glass:
 The new Glass is a curved rectangle, similar to the first Explorer version, but does not include a wire-like frame. Instead, it has a button-and-hinge system to attach the mini-computer to different glasses, the people said.
The new model has a faster Intel processor, improved battery life of as long as two hours and improved wireless connectivity, the people said. The cube-like glass prism used to project the display into users' field of vision is longer and thinner in the new version. 
This can be moved vertically as well as horizontally, while the first version offered only horizontal adjustment, one of those people said. 
Version two also comes with a battery pack that Google developed specifically to connect magnetically to the gadget, the people added. The report adds that Google remains committed to launching a consumer version of Google Glass, but that product is at least a year away from being released. Google has not officially commented on these rumors.

According toBGR, the elite line of devices from Apple had always been on top of every new feature offered for smartphones and tablets except for one thing – wireless charging.
This, says the outlet, is because the pervious technology for wireless charging cannot be used in metal-framed gadgets. The material interferes with the charging pads. Other brands like Samsung have converted their devices’ housing to glass in order to incorporate this new high end feature, but Apple seemed to not too keen on doing the same.
 Apple’s flagship devices after iPhone 4S bring in more revenue with their sleek and stylish look. Fortunately,Qualcomm has figured out a way for metal smartphones and tablets to be able to offer wireless charging through a new technology they call the WiPower.
“WiPower, as well as other technologies that meet the Rezence standard, operate at a frequency that is more tolerant of metal objects that come within the charge field,” the company said in a statement released on Tuesday. 
The Qualcomm® WiPowerTM would be able to match the required 22 watts at a speed which may even be faster than that of other wireless charging technologies.“The techniques for designing a device to charge through a metal back cover, as well as the full suite of WiPower reference designs, are available today to WiPower licensees,” the company explained further.
 According to Qualcomm Wireless Charging General Manager Steve Pazol, this is another significant step towards better support and aesthetics for product designs that are made of metal alloys.
“QTIs engineering advancement eliminates a major obstacle facing wireless power and opens up the continued adoption of this desirable feature to a much wider range of consumer electronics and use cases,” he said.
 According to Digital Trends, the new wireless charging technology makes use of Bluetooth Smart to send the right amount of power to the device or multiple devices even if they have differing charging requirements.

NVIDIA rolls out Android 5.1.1 update to the Shield Tablet, fixes audio issues

If there are two things we love in the modern home, it's Tasker and Sonos. Tasker is an absurdly powerful Android app that can fire off actions when certain triggers are met. Sonos is a polished lineup of connected home speakers that talk to each other seamlessly and plug into every streaming music service out there.
Without an IFTTT channel, it can be a little hard dealing with your Sonos using anything but the official apps, but with a bit of elbow grease you can get Tasker to play nice with your beloved sound system. Here we'll break down how to get a fresh, random playlist started with the bare minimum of fiddling with your phone.
With this set of rules, you'll be able to use a simple "OK Google" voice command to play from a set of your favorite playlists. This framework can also be used to play single, specific playlists. The overall method of getting this to work is to create a list of playlists on your Sonos, assign each a number, and have Tasker roll the dice whenever the command is used. 
Here are the apps you'll need to install to get started.

Start a random Sonos playlist with 'OK Google' voice search
Use the native Sonos app to mark favorites of playlists you want to include in your shuffle.
Open Macronos. Tap the +button in the top-right to add a new playlist.
Tap the Music icon at the top of the list to chose your playlist. Tap Favorites in the top-left here and select one of your previously-marked favorites.
Then choose which speakers you want it to play from. Tap the triangle in the top-right of each speaker and select Ignore for those you don't want to play from. Additional options like the play order and the duration to playback are available here.
Type in a Macro name, then tap Save at the bottom.
Repeat from 1 for every playlist you want included in your shuffle. Use the same speakers and volume levels for consistency.
Once your playlists are lined up, open Tasker, and tap the Tasks tab. Tap the+ at the bottom to start a new task, name it, and tap the checkmark.
Tap the + to add the first step, then find Variable Randomize. You can search for this by typing into the Filter field at the bottom.
Name the variable whatever you like (I use"%Song"), and set the minimum to 1 and the maximum to the number of playlists you want to randomize between. Tap back to return to the Task Edit screen.
Tap the + button again to add the following step. Tap Macronos (under Plugins) and tap Macro. This can again be found through the Filter field.
Tap the pencil icon in the Configuration field at the top, and tap the first playlist to put in the rotation.
Tap the + button next to the If section. Enter the variable name you chose earlier (i.e. %Song) and 1 in the value field. Repeat from step 9 for each playlist you want to add. Remember, the maximum for Variable Randomize should equal the number of playlists.
Go back to the main screen and tap on the Profiles tab, then tap the +icon at the bottom, then Event.
Select AutoVoice Recognized under Plugin, or find it under Filter.Tap the pencil next to the Configuration section and tap Command Filter. Type in the name of the audio command you want to give to start the music playing. 
Keep in mind that something like "play music" or "play something" will instead trigger Google's built-in music player rather than Auto Voice. I picked "Play Sonos" instead.
Now whenever you make a Google Voice Search and say that command, you'll be randomly served up one of the playlists you've popped into the list here. 
If you're just looking to play individual playlists with different commands for each, you can use this process and skip the whole random variable usage. You'll need to enable"OK Google" from any screen for a truly hands-free experience either way.

NVIDIA rolls out Android 5.1.1 update to the Shield Tablet, fixes audio issues

Android 5.1.1 update is rolling out to the NVIDIA Shield Tablet, with the OTA coming in at 767MB. According to the release notes, the update brings stability and performance improvements, along with system-wide optimizations and audio fixes.
Earlier this year, a few users found that the speaker on the Shield Tablet was acting abnormally, emitting a screeching noise when loading certain games. 
This update hopefully fixes those issues. Shield Tablet owners, how are you liking the Android 5.1.1 update?

Restrict background data, app by app
Sometimes apps don’t need to be gobbling up so much data in the background. Because Android allows apps to wake up in the background and perform activities, there’s always the possibility they’ll send and receive mobile data without your knowledge. 
When you’re on a low-capped data plan (or you’re just coming up on the cap) this can be an issue. Luckily, the Android DataUsage menu in your phone offers information on what’s using data in the background, and could save you from extra charges.
Below the graph of overall data usage mentioned above, you’ll find a list of all your apps organized by how much data they’ve used, starting with the most greedy offenders. 
Tap on any single app for details on the split between foreground and background data. If you find an app using a lot of bytes in the background, you can scroll down to the bottom of the details page and check the option to restrict background data. Note, however, that this option is only available on devices that hook into mobile data plans.
Also keep in mind that some apps won’t work as expected with this option enabled, so only use it for apps and services that aren't respectful of your mobile data connection.
Use Owner Info to make it easier to reclaim a lost device
Share your owner information to help do-gooders return your phone. Having a pattern or PIN lock on your phone or tablet is always a good idea, but what happens if you lose the device, and a good Samaritan finds it and wants to return it? How is he or she supposed to know who it belongs to? 
Well, hidden inside the Owner Infomenu, there’s an easy way to provide your identity.
The Owner Info feature will be in the Security section of the main system settings, or under Personal > Lock screen and security on newer Samsung phones. You can add any info here you want, but an email and alternative phone number are safe bets. 
Just check the option above the text field to have the Owner Info displayed on the lock screen. Be aware, OEMs that heavily customize the lock screen (cough, cough—HTC)sometimes do away with this feature.
Start recognizing tethered phones as hotspots
It’s time your phone start treating tethered handsets with the respect they deserve. Android devices have long included native tethering support, and most carriers have finally gotten comfortable enough with tethering to allow users on capped data plans to. use the feature without paying extra. 
That said, an Android device connected toa tethered hotspot doesn’t know it’s using mobile data. All it sees is a Wi-Fi access point, and that can pose problems.
If you’ve set your apps to auto-update or have files automatically backed up over Wi-Fi, you could accidentally blow through most of the hotspot’s data plan in a few minutes. To avoid this, you should be teaching your devices which Wi-Fi networks are actually mobile hotspots. 
This will apply system-wide settings for mobile data even though,for all intents and purposes, your phone thinks it’s connected to Wi-Fi.
In the Data Usage menu,use the overflow menu button to select Network restrictions. The screen that comes up will list all the Wi-Fi networks synced with your account data. Simply flip the toggle next to the ones that are hotspots, and your device won’t abuse the data.
 This feature dovetails nicely with the background data restriction mentioned above.
Priority Notifications
Don’t let your phone boss you around with notifications when you don’t want them. Android 5.0 Lollipop added notifications to the lock screen, but that’s not theonly change to Android’s traditional great notification system. 
You can use the priority notification system to hide content from the lockscreen and control which apps can bother you and when. While awesome and powerful, this system is complicated to set up.
Notifications  modes (sometimes called interruptions) on most Lollipop devices are split into all, priority, and none. None means you get no notifications,not even alarms. Priority mode allows alarms as well as whatever apps you’ve deemed important. Then there’s all, which is standard notification mode.
In your Sound and notification settings, you can edit which apps have priority status, and allow priority exceptions for calls or text from certain numbers. You can switch the three interruption modes by hitting the volume toggle and tapping the None, Priority, or All indicators.
Once you get the interruptions configured, you can set up recurring interruption mode in the notification menu. This is a way to have the device toggle on none or priority mode on a schedule, for example each day at bedtime.
 On most devices this is called “downtime,” but sometimes it’s labeled “do not disturb.” These are very useful features, so it’s worth a few minutes of your life to set things up.
Extend (or shorten) your lock timeou
tIs your lock screen timeout too aggresive? This screen provides relief. Android offers a ton of security settings for locking your device. You can choose a PIN number, password, or pattern lock, or even opt for the esoteric face unlock option. 
Using a lock is essential for keeping unsavory characters from accessing your data if you lose your device, but it can be a pain to unlock your hardware every single time the screen shuts off. Luckily, virtually all Android devices have a feature to fix that.
In the Security menu of most devices (again, Samsung tucked it in the My Device menu) is an “Automatically Lock” option. Note,this item only shows up if you have some sort of screen security set up. 
Here you can designate the amount of time that triggers your device unlock—all the way from instantaneously to 30 minutes on some phones. A longer duration will allow you to wake your device instantly if it hasn’t been asleep for long.
 Also, the power button can often still be used to lock instantly, if you like—that’s a check box right under the timeout option (though it’s not on all phones).

11 killer Android features you aren’t using, but should

Android is stacked with so many tools and configuration options, we often overlook some of its most useful features. Sometimes they’re hiding in plain sight. Other times, they’re buried so deep, you’d never discover them without spelunking deep into submenus, groping blindly in the dark.
But don’t let that one killer feature get away. Even if you consider yourself an Android power user, you’d do well to make sure you're familiar with every single menu, toggle and utility on this list. We’ve done our best to identify the precise locations of the features listed below, but you may have to hunt around menus a bit if your device manufacturer has excessive interface customizations.

Use Android Device Manager for remote security
Use Android Device Manager for much greater control over a lost phone. The Google Play Services framework is used to manage all sorts of back-end services, and Google updates it frequently in the background. 
Most of the functionality packed away in this framework is of little user-facing consequence, but there's a lot including account sync, malware scanning, and the Android Device Manager. This feature allows you track, ring, lock, and wipe your device if you lose track of it.
By default, you can only ring and locate a device with Android Device Manager, so if you want the full gamut of features, go into your main system settings and scroll down to Security. 
Find the Device Administrators option, and open it to see what apps have been granted admin privileges on your phone or tablet. Checking the box next to Android Device Manager allows you to wipe and lock the device in addition to the ring and locate features.
You can remotely access Android Device Manager in a number of useful ways. If you only have one Android device, you can use any web browser to go to the Android Device Manager page and login to your account. From there, you can see a map of where your phone is located, and issue commands to nuke it or just lock it.
Before resorting to extreme measures, you might want to start with locating and making it ring to ensure it didn’t just slip between the couch cushions. Should you have access to more than one Android device, you can use the Android Device Manager app, which you can keep on all your devices to locate and manage the others.
Screen Recording 
Screenshots are for chumps. Show everyone else what you’re up to with a screen recording. A subset of Android users over the years have resorted to rooting their devices to get more advanced features. Android has slowly gained features overtime that make root less of a necessity. As of Android 5.0 Lollipop, there’s less reason than ever to root now that Android supports screen recording. You just need an app to take proper advantage of it.
A screen recording is simply an MP4 video file of what’s happening on your screen for the duration of the capture. There is no native tool to do this on most Android devices for some reason, but there are a ton of them in the Play Store. My personal favorite is the aptly named Rec.
Whether you’re using Rec or another app with support for Lollipop screen recording, all you need to do is accept the screen capture request when it pops up. An icon in the status bar will appear to let you know the screen recording is ongoing. 
Some apps have support for different resolutions and bit rates for the recording as well, but the default will be the native screen resolution of your phone or tablet. The way you end a recording varies by app, but there’s usually a notification or you can simply put the device to sleep. One of the reasons I prefer the aforementioned Rec is that it has support for both of those options as well as shake to stop a recording.
Set your system animations to warp speed 
Why suffer even marginally slow animations when your processor can handle faster speeds?
Android devices are faster than they used to be, but you can make your experience feel even zippier with one simple tweak. Android contains a hidden developer options menu that you can enable by going into your main system settings, then navigating to About > Software Information> More > Build number. Now tap on the build number—literally, tap on it numerous times—until a small message at the bottom of the screen confirms that you’re a developer.
Now, don’t worry: This doesn’t make any modifications to your system. It just turns on the Developer Options menu back in the main settings list—so head back there and open it up. Developer Options has a ton of interesting features to play around with, but you can also mess things up pretty badly, so it’s best not to change anything you haven't thoroughly researched. You’ve been warned!
Now back to animations. Inside Developer options, scroll down to Drawing and find Window animation scale,Transition animation scale, and Animator duration scale. These are all set to 1x by default. These animations are the eye candy you see when apps open and close, menus drop down, and more. They help cover up lag as the system catches up, but you don't really need slow settings on a fast device. You can set all of these to 0.5x for a more snappy interface experience.
Get into your phone faster with Smart Lock
Security doesn’t have to be a hassle. Keeping your phone secure is important, but if you’re the one holding it, there’s no reason you have to deal with a strong lock screen every single time you drag it from your pocket. Luckily, Android 5.0 devices now have support for Smart Lock. 
This feature can display the easy swipe lock screen when it’s safe to do so. How does it know? Well, there are a variety of options, some more secure than others. Smart Lock is delivered to devices via Play Services, just like Android Device Manager. 
The locking options will vary by device, but Nexus phones and tablets have the most. There’s Trusted Face, Trusted Location, Trusted Devices, and on-body detection. At the bare minimum, all devices should have Trusted Devices and Trusted Location.
So for example, you can have your phone set to swipe unlock at home, but take a stroll down the block or hop in the car and it will start asking for the pattern, PIN, or password lock again. The same goes for Trusted Devices—if you’re connected to a Bluetooth or NFC device you have previously marked as “trusted,” (like your car or Android Wear watch) you’ll see no secure lock screen. With Trusted Face, the device will switch seamlessly transition to swipe unlock mode if it spots you with the front camera.
On-body detection is a little weird—this option keeps your phone set to swipe unlock as long as it detects it is still in your hand or pocket. Set it down, and it locks again.
Keep in mind, some OEMs really bury the Smart Lock menu a few levels deep in advanced security or privacy settings. You may also need to enable Google Play Services as a“trust agent” in the settings of some device to access Smart Lock.
Don’t just monitor data usage—control it
The trick is to receive a warning before you trip your data limit. 
In our age of draconian tiered data plans and ever-increasing carrier fees, you often need to watch your mobile data consumption closely. Android has a built-in tool that helps you do this, but most users don’t use it to its full potential. The Data Usage menu is usually near the top of your system settings list (though it may be buried under a “More” heading), and can also be accessed via the network signal strength icon in Quick Settings. 
You can use the sliders on the usage chart to set your data limits for your chosen billing cycle. The default behavior is simply to warn you when you reach your data limit. However, by the time you get that warning, it’s often too late to adjust your behavior and avoid overage charges or automatic throttling. 
A better use of the data tracking feature is to set your warning a few hundred megabytes below your limit, then enable a data limit with the check box right above the chart. The red line on the chart lets you set a point at which your mobile data will be shut off.
Use Wi-Fi Direct for quick file transfers
The Super Beam app facilitates device-to-device file transfers at warp speed—even 45 Mbps. Ah, the wonders of Wi-Fi. Transferring files between devices has always been a little annoying, but features like Android Beam made it easier: Just hold together two NFC-enableddevices (Android 4.1 or later), and you can transfer files across a Bluetooth link. 
It’s a neat trick, but transfer speeds are capped by Bluetooth bandwidth, and file type support is limited. Luckily, however, most Android devices also support Wi-Fi Direct, even though Google’s stock apps don’t make use of it.
Wi-Fi Direct is exactly what it sounds like: a protocol that can create a direct connection between two devices via Wi-Fi. You just need an app to make use of it, and there are several in Google Play.
SuperBeam is probably the most powerful, and it has a free version. To get a transfer going, you just share files to SuperBeam (or whatever app you’ve chosen to use) and tap phones. Wi-Fi Direct allows you toqueue up multiple filesin a single operation and the transfer rate can easily exceed 30 Mbps. It’s fabulous for sharing largevideos or images.

Ministerial appointment from Buhari, I dont expect it -Bakare

The General Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has said that he is not expecting a ministerial appointment from President Muhammadu Buhari.
Bakare, who spoke in an interview with Sahara TV monitored by our correspondent on Thursday, however, parried a question on whether he would accept a ministerial appointment if offered by the President. 
Bakare, who was the running mate of Buhari on the platform of the Congress for Progressive Change in the 2011 presidential election, defended the President’s style of governance, saying, “slow and steady wins the race.
”The cleric said, “As far as I am concerned, I am not expecting to be named a minister. If I am offered an appointment, when I get to that bridge I will cross it. 
I am already a minister of the gospel. Ministry is my calling and my life. The word minister means servant. When you expect nothing, you cannot be disappointed. I keep on doing what I am doing, to be a solid supporter of the Buhari movement and what he stands for in public life. 
I have no regret on what I did in 2011. If an opportunity presents itself, I will do it again. I am not seeking anything.“Let’s not count chickens before they are hatched.

They worked on it for weeks.“The President has looked into those reports. If there are anomalies, President Buhari will call the former president   and say things are irregular and the law should take its effect. But as for the witch-hunt of others, that is a waste of time.
 If you keep on chasing the wrong things, you will not do the right things. But that does not mean anyone who has done evil should get away with it.
Bakare said he would not support the restitution of stolen funds as amnesty for corrupt government officials, noting that this would promote a wrong attitude.
He added, “What Nigeria needs now are not so much of restitution. Some stolen funds that were sent back to Nigeria in the past went into wrong hands. What Nigeria needs is a clear example of good governance, the rule of law as against the rule of men.“On the rule of men, might is right. 
On the rule of law, right is might. So if you can get‘right is might’ in place, if you do something wrong and you are punished for it, those who have the desires to do similar things will know that there are consequences for their choices, that is where we are going.
 I can tell you that witch-hunt is not something that President Buhari would support. Perish the thought, it is not his character.”

Case in point: Google this week unveiled a new search feature that will let you know whether the store or restaurant you want to visit is likely to be crowded at a given time and can even break down a place’s popularity on different days of the week. 
How does Google know all this about individual locations? We have no idea, but this is nonetheless an extremely useful new feature.
As Picked By Google“Now, you can avoid the wait and see the busiest times of the week at millions of places and businesses around the world directly from Google Search,” Google explains.
 “For example, just search for ‘Blue Bottle Williamsburg,’ tap on the titleand see how busy it gets throughout the day.”Here’s how it looks in the example that Google uses: As you can see, the cafe is fairly quiet on the weekdays before positively exploding on Fridays and Saturdays.
So if you’re the type of person who wants their coffee without a lot of noise, you’re best going early in the week. And as a general tip, Google also says people who don’t like working out in front of others should avoid hitting the gym after work on Mondays since that’s when everyone is trying to burn off weekend calories.
Like we said before: We don't know how Google knows all this and we aren’t sure we want to know. But since it’s out there, it’s very cool.

Since Apple does not, and on devices running iOS 8 cannot, readily hand over decrypted user data, a terrorist might leverage the company’s messaging products to hide their agenda from government security agencies. And to deadly effect. 
As The Intercept reported, the hypothetical just made the ongoing government surveillance versus consumer protection battle “uglier.
Wittes and Bedell lay out a worst case scenario in which an American operative is recruited by ISIS via Twitter, then switches communication methods to Apple’s encrypted platform.
 The person might already be subject to constant monitoring from the FBI, for example, but would “go dark”once they committed to iOS.
 Certain information slips through, like location information and metadata, but surveillance is blind for all intents and purposes, the authors propose. The asset is subsequently activated and Americans die.
Under the civil remedies provision of the Antiterrorism Act (18 U.S. Code §2333), victims of international terrorism can sue,Law far explains, adding that an act violating criminal law is required to meet section definitions.
 Courts have found material support crimes satisfy this criteria. Because Apple was previously warned of potential threats to national security, specifically the danger of loss of life, it could be found to have provided material support to the theoretical terrorist.
The authors point out that Apple would most likely be open liability under §2333 for violating 18 USC §2339A, which makes it a crime to “provide[] material support or resources … knowing or intending that they are to be used in preparation for, or in carrying out” a terrorist attack or other listed criminal activity. 
Communications equipment is specifically mentioned in the statute.
Ultimately, it falls to the court to decide liability, willing or otherwise. Wittes and Bedell compare Apple’s theoretical contribution to that of Arab Bank’s monetary support of Hamas, a known terrorist organization. 
The judge in that case moved the question of criminality to Hamas, the group receiving assistance, not Arab Bank.“The question for the jury was thus whether the bank was secondarily, rather than primarily, liable for the injuries,” 
Wittes and Bedell write. “The issue was not whether Arab Bank was trying to intimidate civilians or threaten governments. It was whether Hamas was trying to do this, and whether Arab Bank was knowingly helping Hamas.
”The post goes on to detail court precedent relating to Apple’s hypothetical case, as well as legal definitions of what constitutes criminal activity in such matters. Wittes and Bedell conclude, after a comprehensive rundown of possible defense scenarios, that Apple might, in some cases, be found in violation of the criminal prohibition against providing material support to a terrorist.
They fall short of offering a viable solution to the potential problem. It’s also important to note that other companies, like Google and Android device makers, proffer similar safeguards and would likely be subject to the same theoretical – and arguably extreme – interpretations of national policy described above.
Apple has been an outspoken proponent of customer data privacy, openly touting strong iOS encryption and a general reluctance to handover information unless served with a warrant. 
The tack landed the company in the cross hairs of law enforcement agencies wanting open access to data deemed vital to criminal investigations. 
In May, Apple was one of more than 140 signatories of a letter asking President Barack Obama to reject any proposals that would colorably change current policies relating to the protection of user data. 
For example, certain agencies want Apple and others to build software backdoors into their encrypted platforms, a move that would make an otherwise secure system inherently unsafe.

#CNIL#Internet–Google has decided to defy French demand for global ‘right to be forgotten’– Google has rejected a French demand to globally apply the so-called right to be forgotten, which requires the company to remove links to certain information about users if asked.
“While the right to be forgotten may now be the law in Europe, it is not the law globally,” Google’s global privacy counsel Peter Fleischer said in a blog post yesterday.
The statement was a response to a demand by France’s national data protection authority, CNIL, to globally implement a May 2014 ruling of the European Court of Justice that allows people to ask search engines to delist links with personal information about them.
The ruling applies when the online information is deemed“inaccurate, inadequate, irrelevant or excessive”.In its post, Google branded the French request “a troubling development that risks serious chilling effects on the web.”
“If the CNIL’s proposed approach were to be embraced as the standard for Internet regulation, we would find ourselves in a race to the bottom. In the end, the Internet would only be as free as the world’s least free place,” it added.
Google said it had evaluated and processed more than a quarter of a million requests to delist links to more than a million web pages since the European Court of Justice’s ruling.
Following several hundred requests from French users, CNIL told Google in June it should apply the ruling globally and remove links from the whole of its network– not just from google.

Google has become a lightening rod for critics in Europe on a broad range of issues from privacy to the protection of national publishers.
The Wikipedia information website has described the European ruling as creating “memory holes” in the Internet, while critics of the US Internet giant have said such standards are necessary to protect the privacy of citizens.

Rovio’s creative director, Patrick Liu, said they wanted to make the game fair for players who spend real money on gems and give them more value. 
At the same time, they want to give players complete access to the game without making them feel the need to spend money.

Windows 10 : How performance onthe new operating system compares to Windows 8

Sarah Tew/CNETWindows 10 represents a major change in how PCs look and work. Most early reviews and impressions of the new operating system have been positive, emphasizing the integrated desktop and start menu, the new Edge browser, and the Cortana digital assistant.
But historically, upgrading a PC to a new OS has been known to cause performance and compatibility issues, judging from the rough transition between previous versions of Windows, such as XP to Vista or Windows 7 to Windows 8.
This time around, Microsoft is trying to make it as easy as possible to move from Windows 8 (or Windows 7) to Windows 10. 
The upgrade is free for nearly all computer owners; judging from both the preview versions and final build we've tested, the upgrade process is easy and doesn't destroy existing data or applications; and the upgraded laptops, desktops, and hybrids we've tried Windows 10 on all seem to work just as well as they did before.
Beyond the actual installation of Windows 10 and the flashy new interfaces and features, how does the new operating system affect system performance? 
The CNET Labs team took a half-dozen Windows 8 computers, covering a wide range of prices, components, and styles, and upgraded them to the most current version of Windows 10, build 10240, which is the same code consumers can expect to download starting July 29.
Screenshot by Lance Whitney/CNETWe then ran some of our benchmark tests on these systems, comparing the scores with how the same exact hardware performed running Windows 8. The Multimedia Multitasking test used here encodes a video while playing back separate HD and 4K files in the background, while the Photoshop image processing test resizes, applies filters and saves a collection of high-resolution images from raw files.
The set of systems we tested included high-end laptops and hybrids with current-genIntel Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs, including Microsoft's flagship Surface Pro 3, as well as less-expensive systems with Intel Atom and Celeron processors, such as the $200HP Stream 11laptop.
Across each of these, the difference in performance between the Windows 8 and Windows 10 operating systems was minimal, which should assuage the fears of anyone concerned about upgrading for productivity reasons. In the majority of head-to-head results, the original Windows 8 test scores were faster by a few seconds, but not by enough that you'll notice in everyday use, and in most cases, the difference was small enough to be statistically insignificant.
It's worth noting that Microsoft has not promised an improvement in performance when transitioning to Windows 10, so these results are not unexpected. But if you were worried about the possibility of degraded performance because of the new OS, that does not seem to be anything to worry about, especially as the system requirements for Windows 10are essentially the same as for Windows 8.
When testing the mainstream Lenovo Y70 gaming laptop, a run-through of the BioShock: Infinite benchmark at high detail settings and 1,920x1,080 resolution gave us 58.6 frames per second under Windows 10, which is comparable to what other systems with the same Nvidia GeForce 860M GPU have scored under Windows 8. That's especially reassuring, as some earlier test builds of Windows 10 ran into major problems when trying to run games using discrete graphics cards.
 We're continuing to test gaming hardware and graphics card drivers, and will report our results when we've tested more games and more systems.
Sarah Tew/CNETThe upshot is that computer owners upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 8(and presumably Windows 7) should expect to get the same level of performance out of their machines that they do now, and should also expect to make the transition smoothly, without losing access to data, files, applications or otherwise crippling their PCs.
In previous Windows OS cycles, this was not always the case, and our recommend action in the past has been to wait until you buy a new computer to get the newest version of Windows. 
For Windows 10, based on our testing to date, that caveat is no longer required.
